If 2024 has proven anything, it’s that this is Sabrina Carpenter‘s world and we’re just living in it. While she’s been building momentum since opening for Taylor Swift during the Australia and Singapore legs of the “Eras Tour” earlier this year, the April 10 release of Carpenter’s song “Espresso” catapulted her career to new heights. Since dropping the caffeinated hit, which has also been dubbed the “song of the summer,” the Short n’ Sweet singer’s schedule has been packed to the brim.
From attending her first Met Gala and performing at Coachella to announcing her forthcoming album and tour, here is a breakdown of Carpenter’s nonstop schedule since “Espresso” debuted.
April 11: ‘Espresso’ single and video released
With the intention of “putting out a little song” before her Coachella performances, Carpenter released “Espresso,” the vibrant debut single off of her upcoming sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet. The track’s retro beach-inspired music video was released the same day.
Carpenter told Rolling Stone that the track was inspired by her trip to France last July, during which she stumbled upon a little cafe that served espresso.
April 12 and 19: Coachella performances
Carpenter descended on Indio, Calif., to make her Coachella debut on April 12. During her set, the pop star played a slew of tracks, both old and new, including “Feather,” “Nonsense” and her then-brand-new single, “Espresso.” She took the Coachella stage again on April 19 for Weekend 2 of the festival.
May 6: Met Gala debut
Carpenter attended her first-ever Met Gala in a strapless Oscar de la Renta gown with a black velvet bodice and a voluminous, light-blue satin skirt. That evening, Carpenter and her boyfriend, Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan, also made their red carpet debut as a couple.
May 8: Marc Jacobs campaign
Just over a month after making her Skims spring campaign debut, Carpenter joined forces with Marc Jacobs for the brand’s new pre-fall 2024 campaign. The “Espresso” crooner announced the collaboration on May 8 via Instagram, with photos of her modeling the brand’s Sack bag.
May 11: 25th birthday celebration
The “Feather” starlet took a break from making career moves to celebrate her 25th birthday. To mark the occasion, the singer hosted a party in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she donned a silk yellow dress a là Andie Anderson — Kate Hudson’s character in the 2003 rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Hudson also acknowledged the uncanny resemblance with a comment on Carpenter’s Instagram post.
May 19: ‘Saturday Night Live’ performance
Carpenter was literally working late ‘cause she’s a singer! May 19 marked her first performance on Saturday Night Live, during which she sang “Feather” and “Nonsense” followed by “Espresso.” In addition to serving as the Season 49 finale’s musical guest, the Disney alum appeared alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, the night’s host, in a Scooby Doo-inspired skit.
May 26: BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Luton
The Girl Meets World alum took the stage for yet another festival — only this time, it was across the pond. On May 26, she performed on BBC’s Radio 1 Big Weekend in Luton, England. Fans got an unexpected double dose of the “Nonsense” pop star when Coldplay brought her out to perform “Magic” during their set.
June 3: ‘Short n’ Sweet’ release date announced
The pop star took to Instagram to reveal the album artwork and end-of-summer release date for her upcoming album, Short n’ Sweet.
“Short n’ Sweet MY NEW ALBUM IS COMING OUT AUGUST 23rd!!!! this project is quite special to me and i hope it’ll be something special to you too,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “You can preorder it now!”
June 6: ‘Please Please Please’ single and video released
Three days after teasing “something special” for fans, Carpenter dropped “Please Please Please” — the second single off of Short n’ Sweet. The track’s music video was released the same day — and fans were quick to notice a familiar face in it: Carpenter’s actor-beau Barry Keoghan. In the video, the pair play a criminal couple — think modern-day Bonnie and Clyde — that are as mad as they are in love.
June 9: Governors Ball performance
Carpenter stopped by the Governors Ball Music Festival, where she performed “Please Please Please” for the first time. True to her ultra-feminine, coquettish style, the former Disney Channel star took the stage in a yellow corset minidress with a bedazzled heart cutout.
June 12: Van Leeuwen announces ‘Espresso’ ice cream
The song of the summer is getting its own summer ice cream flavor. In a June 12 Instagram post, Van Leeuwen announced that they’d be collaborating with Carpenter on a limited edition espresso ice cream. The flavor — which includes chewy brownies, chocolate chips and swirls of fudge — will be available both in stores and online starting June 28.
June 17: Capital’s Summertime Ball performance
Carpenter then touched down in London for Capital’s Summertime Ball. On June 17, the 25-year-old singer made her debut performance at the historic Wembley Stadium. “80,000 of you singing along did not feel real,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram following the event.
June 18: BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge
During her BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge set, Carpenter surprised fans with her rendition of fellow pop girlie Chappell Roan’s breakout single, “Good Luck, Babe!”
June 18: Louis Vuitton’s Paris Fashion Week show
Carpenter jetted to Paris later that day to attend Pharrell Williams’s Louis Vuitton spring-summer 2025 menswear show. The coquettish crooner wore an oversized white blazer as a minidress, which she paired with white pumps and a matching mini Louis Vuitton Speedy bag.
June 20: ‘Short n’ Sweet’ tour announced
On June 20, the “Please Please Please” songstress announced her 2024 North American tour in support of Short n’ Sweet. Slated for this fall, Carpenter’s headlining tour will hit cities in the U.S. and Canada with support from singers Amaarae, Declan McKenna and Griff. “I can’t wait to be singing with you all soon,” she wrote on Instagram.
