Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” made a strong first appearance on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, clocking in with just under 2.6 billion minutes watched in its first four days of availability.
That’s nearly double the debut seen by Netflix’s most recent comparable series: “One Piece,” the live-action adaptation of the popular manga of the same name that hit 1.3 billion viewing minutes in its first four days.

Interestingly, when Netflix released its proprietary data regarding “Avatar” last month, it was only 15% ahead of “One Piece’s” debut. However, the Netflix Top 10 measures worldwide viewership on all devices, whereas Nielsen only accounts for TV screens in the U.S. Therefore, “Avatar’s” Nielsen performance implies that the series was more successful in stateside than in other countries.
