2024 MTV VMAs: Megan Thee Stallion hosts night of unforgettable performances as stars arrive on the red carpet

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards kick off Wednesday night from New York’s UBS Arena.

Since 1984, the VMAs have delivered unforgettable performances, and this year will be no exception. Megan Thee Stallion is emcee for the night’s festivities and is also performing. She’ll be joined onstage over the course of the night by a high-profile roster of presenters and performers including Eminem, who is opening the show, and Katy Perry, who is this year’s Video Vanguard Award recipient.

A record-breaking night could be in store as Taylor Swift leads the pack with 12 nominations. Depending on how she fares, the “Fortnight” singer could surpass Beyoncé as the most-decorated female artist in VMAs history. Post Malone is close behind with 11 nominations.

Meanwhile, Eminem, who has eight nominations, is poised for his own historic moment. He holds the title of most wins by a rap artist but is vying to become the most-awarded male artist in the show’s history, a title he currently shares with Peter Gabriel.

With potential surprise performances and artist pairings, special appearances and must-see moments, this year’s show is one to watch.
